Reddit Is Er Worth It Medicine

I love emergency medicine, but being an er doc right now sucks and the future is not very bright. The shift work gets harder every time and it is a physically/ emotionally demanding job. /r/emergencymedicine is a subreddit for healthcare providers in the emergency setting to discuss their encounters and find ways to improve their knowledge of various parts of em. I’ve been an er tech for 3. 5 years, trying to get in to med school. Yes, it is worth it.

The beauty of medicine is that there is. What are some pros and cons of working as an er physician that most people are not aware of? Do er docs often get to work a single shift 5 days a week or mostly shift work? Even if your answer is yes, it's worth it! today, circumstances may change in future. If you don't love and embrace minor care and inexplicable care (tm) you won't be a good fit for emergency medicine. That's like 80 percent of it. From my perception of the medical field, em seems to be the most stressful and exciting of all specialties (which is good for me). But i'm just curious about what it's like from the inside.
